Annie Bright is a swinging singer with a relaxed style reminiscent of Peggy Lee, Julie London, Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney etc. Like all the best vocalists, Annie served her apprenticeship with a band, in her case the one led by the veteran Dixieland clarinettist Sid Phillips. Annie then developed a cabaret act that took her around the world. She has worked in all aspects of showbusiness; you name it, she`s probably done it, and her audiences have included royalty, oil sheiks, British and NATO troops, holidaymakers, cruise passengers and even guests in Her Majesty`s Prisons!

Jazz has always been Annie`s first love. She now performs mainly with her own band (led by her husband DAVE GELLY), and together they have appeared at festivals around the country and venues such as the renowned Pizza On The Park (now sadly gone) in London`s fashionable Knightsbridge, and the National Theatre`s Concert Pitch. More recently, though, they have found new audiences in SW France, where there has been a surge of interest in jazz of all kinds.

Now for something completely different:

Annie, who was classically-trained and studied under Sir Michael Tippett, is a founder-member of The Friends` Musick, a chamber choir whose repertoire spans 500 years of vocal music. They specialise in costumed performances of 16th century part-songs.
